This small silver case, designed in the form of a pocket watch, has been fitted with a spring-loaded compartment to hold four or five gold sovereign coins.

The sovereign holder keeps pocket money handy when it was attached to a chain or chatelaine by means of the small ring that can be seen on top.

There is a pattern chased into the front and back of the case.

Hinged at the bottom and by pressing the spring loaded catch at the top allows the case to open to gain access to the inside.

Measuring around 30 mm in diameter and weighing in at 15 gram.

There is a full British hallmark from the Birmingham assay office with the assay mark for sterling silver and the date letter for 1898.

In good condition, this case is ready to join a collection.
